Compliments / Complaints

Input from the people we serve is very important to the Department as we evaluate the services we provide. Your comments, both critical and complimentary, are very useful in ensuring that we perform our mission efficiently, effectively, and professionally.

There are several methods: by which you may submit a compliment or complaint;

In-Person

You may appear in person at the Office of the Chief of Police located at 116 N Main Street Farmville, VA 23901 between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm (Monday through Friday).

By Telephone

You may call the Office of the Chief of Police at 434-392-9259 between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm (Monday through Friday). If making a compliment/complaint by telephone, you may be asked if we can direct your call to the on-duty supervisor in order to better determine the officer/service to which your comments are related.

In Writing

A written complaint often offers persons an opportunity to provide a more thorough explanation of the circumstances of the compliment/complaint. It also provides documentation for us when we need to address a situation. Forms for your use are available both at the police department and here on this website by visiting the Compliant form or the Compliment Form. After completing the appropriate form, you may deliver the form in person or by mail to:

Policy on Anonymous Complaints

Anonymous complaints are difficult to investigate and persons making a complaint are encouraged not to do so anonymously. However, the department will accept anonymous complaints and attempt to verify any obvious violations of policy or law. Until any such violation is uncovered, anonymous complaints will be accepted as an inquiry only and will not begin any formal disciplinary procedures against an officer.
